Heat Press Machines FAQs

What Sublimation Heat Press Settings Should I Use on Tumblers?

Your exact heat press settings will depend on your model and the size of your tumbler. Consult your heat press machine's specific instructions. If you use the HOGG Tumbler Heat Press, you'll need to adjust your machine's temperature to between 350°F and 380°F. Apply firm pressure for 45 seconds per side. For other setup tips, visit our Sublimation Heat Press Settings Guide.

What Materials Are Suitable for Sublimation Heat Press Machines?

For sublimation to work, blanks require polyester fibers or coatings for the ink to bond. Drinkware crafters often sublimate on stainless steel tumblers, ceramic mugs, and glass cups, but these blanks require high-quality powder coatings made with a polyester resin base. The Stainless Depot Company features powder-coated sublimation blanks in a variety of sizes and styles, giving you the opportunity to customize tumblers, coffee cups, glass, and more.

What Else Do I Need to Get Started Besides a Heat Press?

In addition to a heat press, you'll need a sublimation printer and ink to print designs for your products. You'll also need sublimation paper, tape for sublimation, and heat-resistant gloves for the printing and heat transfer processes.
