Do All Stainless Steel Tumblers Work For Sublimation?

For a tumbler cup to be suitable for sublimation, it must have a polymer coating. Sublimation requires polyester for the ink to bond with the surface, so standard, uncoated stainless steel tumblers will not accept the transfer and will produce poor results. The Stainless Depot Company tumblers are powder-coated with a special polymer-based formula, allowing you to achieve vibrant and lasting sublimation results. 

Can I Use a Standard Inkjet Printer to Create Sublimation Designs?

Standard inks are not designed to bond with sublimatable surfaces, and the results will either wash away or fail to transfer. Some crafters use sublimation ink within standard printers to output sublimation designs. However, these printers are not designed to hold sublimation ink. The specialized ink can clog and damage standard inkjet printers. 

For reliable, professional results, it’s best to use a sublimation printer and ink to create sublimatable designs. Some of the best sublimation printer brands available include Epson, Brother, and Sawgrass Sublimation Printers.
